That's right David. Newt is damaged goods (as is Armey) and I've concluded that it's folly for one man to think he can withstand a tidal wave of media derision. It may be unfair, but it's the reality and I think he needs to think of what is best for his party and step aside. The old hierarchy has to go. Truthfully, I saw this coming with the Dole nomination. Republicans are just too loyal to their old soldiers. I did not believe that Dole had a chance against the WH spin machine, but they crowned him prom king because it was "due" him, he earned it. Problem was......he was unelectable. They are looking at things like tenure when they should be focused on what's ahead. Remember Clinton's words to the Morris poll after the Lewinsky matter broke. "Well, we'll just have to win." Of course that translates to "just do whatever it takes" and I'm not suggesting taking the low road of the Clintonistas, but we're talking politics here, not philosophy. They need to start looking at what is politically expedient.
