I have heard that one too, Gregor. But I think this time, with the exception of the last 3 weeks of course, will be different. I remain long term bearish. I expect the DOW below 5000 next year sometime.
Keeping most funds in money markets and adding shorts/puts selectively.

I think an interest rate cut is already built in to stock prices. Being a little cautious, but believe we are headed much lower after the Christmas froth is over.

I'm not sure other central banks share the same concerns that the US has.

Our FED seems to have abandoned its primary purpose - stabilizing the purchasing power of the dollar. Things are very delicately and precariously balanced IMO. A declining dollar will boost profits of some multinationals temporarily, but it won't cheer foreign investors in our markets. I don't believe easing can prevent a recession now.

All that said: God is good and will continue to provide what we both need -- whatever happens.
