Your brokerage firm would automatically exercise your options for you if it is 3/4 point in the money when it is expired. However, they wouldn't do that for the warrents. If it is expired, it is expired(worthless)!
That is why you are allowed to buy warrents in your IRA account (the options are not allowed in IRA). If you have enough money in your IRA, you can exercise your warrents, otherwise, sell it before the expiration date.(same to your regular account, you have to do something for the warrents before it expired.) You can not borrow money in your IRA account.
