To LG and the TSO thread. I posted to LG, supporting his stance concerning the state of this country, and made comments to and about Trey. Trey responded to me by a PM. I will publically apologize to LG (if he at all felt compromised) and to Trey for assuming that he was a liberal, and will post my partial response to him here. The subject was aired here on TSO and I responded in kind. This is a good thread with a lot of good conversation, and enjoy reading you all. Politics are my life and sometimes, I lose it.

want.
But your characterization of the Reagan '80's, the stance that a strong military buildup to protect this country against the likes of Saddam, bin Laden, China, et. al. is not as important as free lunch programs is way off base. Our military has deteriorated drastically since Clinton took office and all the bad guys know it. We will have mucho problems if we have to defend ourselves in more than one front at a time. It can't be done.
And to say that the Democrats deserve to be in office (which is what I thought you were saying) because the religious right is against abortion and gay-marriages, and backs up that belief with campaigns for Republicans, is ludicrous.
What ticked me off was your adjective when discussing Rush Limbaugh. It is a typical tactic for liberals to use when discussing someone they disagree with. Just call them a name or make fun of their appearance (ie. Linda Tripp, Paula Jones). I believe your statement " use a label and dismiss with a waive of your hand and a name
is just what you did. Rush's statements aren't false. He is pretty much right on, including, even now, when he says the Republicans screwed this election up by chickening out and being afraid of the Democrats.
I will put this post back on TSO, where it started. If you are not a liberal, I will publicly apologize for calling you one. For, to me, to be called that would definitely be an insult. But, I still stand on my statement that liberal positions on give-away programs cannot be compared to our military strength, or lack thereof. America has lost her respect in the world's eyes over the last 6 years and that makes me very sad."
