doug, well as you are no doubt aware Northern and Southern Ca are 2 dfferent worlds.... and, they stole our water besides, so who cares about those creepy S. Californians (I know Im making friends now). But I recently read an article here that shows that asians are the clear majority in N. California especially if you include indian as a part of the asian designation which already includes chinese (+ hong kong now, lots of people from there), japanese, vietnamese etc. I am assuming that most of these are buddhist based on my asian friends which are almost all buddhist incl. those that are 2nd generation US citizens. Of course the indians are hindi (?) I believe and not buddhist, but they certainly are not christian.

There are an awful lot of buddhist temples around too, as well as a lot of christian churches. Ill look for an article of some sort confirming this but I beleive christians are in the minority in N.California now and the trend is accelerating. BTW, the republicans are stauchly in favor of increasing the limitations for H1-B visa workers which is increasing the pool of non christians pretty dramatically in Silicon Valley. Guess they think once these guys come here they will all convert? Since "christian values" and the H1-B visa position are diametrically opposed. I was more than a little offended when the republican gov candidate here campaigned in (primarily) all white christian churches. He should have gone to Safeway (grocery store) or something, Im not kidding about that.
