You are totally dreaming. I cannot be done quickly. A deal could be done quickly. Dropping it and going to censure (with or without Clinton's involvement) could be done quickly. But voting for impeachment in the Senate cannot be done quickly.

The House could impeach quickly if they wanted to take the hit. The hit would be pretty bad.

But the Senate cannot. Can't be done. All sorts of Senate rules. Filabustering. Any attempt to railroad would backfire horribly. (If they tried to railroad without either a "plea bargain" or extensive an even handed review of the evidence, with the full opportunity for the Pres. to make his case). The Repubs would really, really suffer. The result would be that Repubs either completely surrendered to get it over quickly, or would be crucified by a horribly drawn out process for which they would get nearly all the blame.

Impeachment in the Senate is dead. Probably the House as well. It's a nuclear waste dump for Republicans. They now know it, most of them.
