CrossKeys Opening Office in India to Serve Rapidly Developing Market

KANATA, ONTARIO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 4, 1998--CROSSKEYS (NASDAQ:CKEYF) (TSE:CKY.)

CrossKeys reach into Asia bolstered

by direct service presence in its 15th regional office worldwide

CrossKeys Systems Corporation (NASDAQ: CKEYF; TSE: CKY), a leading supplier of service, network and element management applications software for telecommunication service providers, today announced the establishment of its newest office, located in Chennai (formerly Madras), India, to serve the region's large and growing telecom market. Industry analysts predict that India will continue to invest heavily in telecommunication infrastructure, totaling over $24 billion US for the period from 1996 to 2000.

"CrossKeys continues to seize opportunities for growth," says Rick Schmaltz, Vice President of Regional Operations. "With our newest office in India, our 15th, we are now directly present in 11 countries around the globe, positioning us to serve the world's most dynamic telecommunication markets."

Karl Viswanath Kalyan has been appointed Director, Business Development for the India region. Mr. Kalyan is a veteran of the international telecom product and services market, working with numerous telecommunications operators around the globe. His direct experience with telecommunications in India and South Asia gives him a keen understanding of this marketplace.

"CrossKeys strongly believes that the Indian sub-continent is a market with high growth potential," says Mr. Schmaltz. "We want to work with the service providers and the considerable development talent of India. Together, we can offer CrossKeys products that are integrated and customized in India to deliver comprehensive solutions."

India is committed to increasing substantially its number of main phone lines per population (teledensity) by the year 2000. Given India's population of close to one billion, this is a significant project. Immediate opportunities for CrossKeys to contribute to this undertaking come through its Altus(tm) product line, a portfolio of voice traffic management solutions, and its CrossControl(tm) portfolio of multivendor network and element management software solutions. As networks expand in size and complexity, CrossKeys Resolve(tm) service management software will be in a position to add value to India's telecommunication service providers.

CrossKeys now has offices in Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Israel, Mexico, the United Kingdom and the United States.
