I don't see why Barrick has to do anything except pay for its 40% share of exploration until (if) a mineable reserve is established. I guess Newmont could make an offer for all of ARP but I can't see how this is going to attract another bid. And if Newmont takes it on then they must believe that it will be a stand alone mine. Given where the property is, like in the middle of nowhere, it's going to have to be at 100 million tonnes to support the required infrastructure. If that happens, Barrick pays its 40% and is happy with Newmont as the operator. Under any scenario. I can't understand why Newmont bought shares in ARP at this time. Help me here, please.
