CLP and all - Dick Jensen called me this evening partly to chat and partly to clarify what might be a misconception about his current role in the company. He insists that he is now and will continue to be fully in charge at GPGI, and has an "excellent and mutually-respectful" relationship with Mr. McKay. He felt that McKay is exceptionally well-liked by the staff, and is ecstatic with the new arrangement with McKay's company and Mr. Leece. He is a bit frustrated by his being flamed in ignorance, [hmmmm, wasn't that my point earlier today?], and certain ungrateful posters. He doesn't much read the postings - mostly gets the news from Dennis, though today did read a few items. He's clearly unecstatic with the share price, and says he recently spoke with someone who worked in a brokerage and actually admitted to shorting BB companies, who bragged, "We can and do short 9 out of 10 right down to nothing". (Once the share price gets too low, raising money to operate becomes too difficult and the shorts fulfill their own prophesies). However, Jensen says he is as confident as ever that very soon the shorts will have to chalk Global up as that one-in-ten that they could not snare. There are a number of very positive things in the works and these will be shared as they materialize. Dick is eager to share information, but feels he's learned from (bitter) experience that it's best to wait until he's sure it's accurate, and shipments 3-6 are a perfect example of that. This resulted in part from erroneous readings from uncalibrated atomic absorption machines, which subsequently led to incorrect process decisions (I'm sorry I don't have more specifics on this). Finally, he hopes stockholders understand that he is unflaggingly committed to making them and himself lots of money, whether they respect him or not! Judging by his tone, I felt his enthusiasm and energy to be authentic, and I (Pollyanna-good-listener that I am, Ed) was more heartened by our conversation than even with today's news, which is significant. Thanks,.....SW |
