Brian,

well I hear the final count was only 5000 thousand votes on the govenorship. I think the Lingle/Peters association may have been critical.

Must apoligize for the Fasi mix-up. Frank has done so many things its hard to keep up with him. I think his endorsement did Ciatano no harm. There are an easy 10K Fasi fanatics in Honolulu.

I was talking to a good friend last week end and she was tellimg me childhood stories about living in the Sugar Plantation camps in upper Pa'ia on Maui. It is a central memory she carries with her, it's her heritage. Now she works for a major corporation, has a Ph.D. and her daughter never spent a day in the camp that probably is gone now. But the feelings are there in the family, and they have the deepest of roots. I know lots of highly educated people in Honolulu who have very similiar backgrounds and who share that emotional tie. who can say how that effects elections.

regards,

mnmuench
