The optical solution was the focus of: Start-Up Hopes To Shed More Light On Photonics (page A11 in Investor's Business Daily, Nov. 4, 1998. Company is SilkRoad, Inc. 10 times more bandwidth than DWDM at about 1/2 the price. Ciena (and its shareholders) should keep their eyes on this, cause it could (if it works) make Ciena's DWDM solution obsolete. BTW, I posted this info yesterday.
