Greg, Re: "IBM and Intel Team Up on Security for e-Business"
This is a good thing for Intel (both companies, obviously) because IBM has long been the leader in cryptographic technology. They had to be because their computers are used by more banks, insurance companies, etc., than any other computer company's. Obviously, banks etc. have a lot to lose if their computers are broken into since their entire business (and our money) is "on" the computer.
Interesting that this week there was a computer security issue, or break-in, that did NOT involve UC Berkeley. This week's involved Stanford, on whose computer system a "sniffer" program was detected. Apparently, this program ferrets out passwords and other supposedly secure data on the system, for the dastardly hackers. Comforting, isn't it?
