Whew! Mary, that was heavy.
Thank you for the enlightening note. I want to add a little comment about your comment on Purgatory (JAVA) vs Hell.

I think there are 2 kinds of programmers in this world --
A. The guy that uses Visual Basic, and REXX.
B. The kind that will tackle anything, no matter how tough. This guy will moan about all the problems, but secretly he is delighting in solving those puzzles that earns him the position of being one of those who is so bright that is beyond the comprehension of mere mortals.

JAVA is too tough for Casual programmers, but is not powerful/fast/secure/tools enough for serious apps. Managers who rally ("JAVA oder nichts") behind JAVA will pay the price, but forgiven, because, after all, everybody else made the same mistake.
