John, the reason I excepted Shalom from the obnoxious, persistent and narrow minded people at Ask God is simply that I find him to have some good and open-minded attributes. I think that when you polarize people and their beliefs as much as you possibly can, without giving them any credit whatsoever, you give them power that they should not have. This concept is in line with other parts of my philosophy, in that the more open and flexible and positive and friendly one can stay, the more people will hear you and want to stay around. I have absolutely no power to influence anyon's belief system in what I would consider to be a positive way unless they are there to participate in the ensuing dialogue. This is why I believe that if you chase almost everyone away from your thread, you have limited your ability to discuss rationalism with a larger audience. Something that is unknown or perceived as being deliverd in a sometimes belligerent manner is certainly not going to be adopted. I didn't really think you were gay! The comment about the jesus blow-up doll just puzzled me. Christine
