AOL's Digital City Appears On Netscape Site

dailynews.yahoo.com

>>Digital City will now appear on Netscape Communications Corp. (Nasdaq:NSCP - news)'s Netcenter site, expanding the audience and advertising reach of the service, the companies said.

>>Digital City, which provides local information on news, weather, dining, movies, sporting events and community message boards, was previously only available on America Online's flagship AOL service and its CompuServe and AOL.com properties.

>>A Netscape spokeswoman said on Wednesday the company is paying a fee for the service, but she would not be more specific.

>>Digital City now reaches more than 3 million people a month and AOL expects the number of visits to run as high as 8 million more a month on Netcenter, she added.

>>In August, the companies announced a two-year strategic pact to make Digital City the exclusive content provider for the local channel of the newly redesigned and expanded Netcenter. The Netcenter is Netscape's bid to make its website a central starting point for Internet users.

>>AOL hopes the increased Internet presence and distribution will help drive local, regional and national advertisers to Digital City, which already has about 5,000 marketing partners and tens of millions in annual ad and e-commerce revenue.<<
