Barrie, I don't want to beat this to death, but isn't it possible for a company to make an appliance that attaches to a computer for the purposes of verifying a finger print in order to get into finger print protected (like password protected)files?

In the example of the person trying to get into the file via the modem, once the person tried to open, copy, move or delete a file he/she would be required to verify his/her fingerprint. If that fingerprint is not associated with that file, the computer would not allow access.

In the example given above, why is an encryption algorithm needed?

Thanks for your patience.
