Buy a diesel powered vehicle.

Fuel will store longer than gasoline. You'll get better mileage.

And since there is no ignition system, you'll have minimal problems with electronic ignition and timing matters.

But in reality, I haven't heard of any problems with automotive chips and were their one with the system clock, one could merely roll it backwards in order to spoof it.
