There are a growing number of people not from the "same old two parties" getting a big part of the vote.
"The times they are a changing". I think it would also be interesting to compare these "occurences" against average voter turnout. Either there are a whole slew of new voters that are finally exercising their right to vote, or people are just becoming disillusioned with the traditional parties and their candidates.
The people are speaking - but what are they saying?
I'm sure that was a rhetorical question, but I believe they are saying; enough is enough, no more guaranteed votes, get your crap together, no more "free ride" in office, and change our future and our children's future for the better. Regional concerns are becoming more and more significant, and people are looking for something different.
Nothing really surprises me these days, because I realize that anything can happen. What does surprise me is that it has taken so long for the traditional parties to realize that maybe their future is not as guaranteed as they thought it was. Turnabout is fair play, and since our future for many years was in question, now it's their turn.
