Thank you for the help. I found the quote stating exactly what you said.

"Under the plan, General Instrument shareholders will get
one share in each of the new companies for each General
Instrument share held, Friedland said."
"We may have to do a reverse split to comply with New York
Stock Exchange rules," he said, adding closing of the
transaction is seen by July.

What i'm now wondering about is in the second paragraph- "reverse split?" do you know what this means?

In general, is this split good for the stockholders at this point? i saw the stock price rise, but not by very much. also, are there some other companies that might be good buys now that are going to be in the hdtv arena? do you know anything about a company called "IATV"?
