John.

First off to answer the PigDog guy or whatever his handle is.

I first saw LiveStage on Friday last week because that is when it was announced by THW. I saw it on their web site. But Of course I have heard rumors before about it, but until you see it, those rumors are just that. Rumors and they are not real. I heard today about 40 sites have been seeded with LiveStage late alpha, early beta. THW wouldn't confirm or deny it. I heard the seed mostly went to 20 of the top 100 advertising agencies and a few web designers and also Apple people.

I asked THW again about Flash and they said that they might consider Flash export or a save option for Flash support if they have time, but they are on a critical time schedule and said that it would be probably too tight to get it in and tested before January. They said it has been requested as an import and export option from recent feedback. And they said they are always open to other formats, because users demand flexibility.

Good news to hear that they are open to this possibility. Maybe someone will create a QT 3 import/export filter just like the Photoshop import export filter used in WebPainter 3 for Mac and the Windows beta that I managed to get.

I also heard from THW (the head guy) that if I was a Macromedia shareholder, that I should look into Director 7 as he said some sneak peaks of the UI etc where reported on a number of sites such as MacWeeks "Mac The Knife" and another one but I can't remember what he said the name was. He also said that THW has a lot of respect for Macromedia and does not wish to have any THW shareholders or supporters bash Macromedia or bad mouth them in any way just because LiveStage is getting some attention right now.

He said THW has a long ways to go to make LiveStage a success in the market and the first step was a proper beta cycle and then a successful launch at MacWorld. Until then, he said he will caution THW supporters. The champ is always the champ until someone knocks out the champ. That's not so easy.

I guess he was trying to distract me from too many questions or calm my excitement level and set in some reality about how software is made and sold to make it a success. That's why he is the boss I guess.

Anyways, what about Director 7? Sounds exciting.

I'll check the annual for numbers as you suggested John.

Thanks again.
