I don't disagree with most of what you say. However, the Dems have to acknowledge their own part in the "attack dog agenda", re >"They saw themselves as voting against the RR inspired impeachment attack dog agenda of the Republicans..."

We had a female Congresswoman from California "privately" having a temper tantrum to a roundtable of Congressmen and women. I believe that was Diane Feinstein, if I remember the news report correctly. I also recall a female Congresswoman publicly saying Clinton was guilty of "one count of extreme recklessness, and several counts of stupidity". Those are strong words to say publicly of one's President, when he is the leader of your own party.

And who went to the Senate floor to publicly excorciate Clinton? Senior Democrate Lieberman. And a fellow Dem rushed to the floor in support. Could these very unusual things all together have helped push the mass of Dems to vote for Impeachment? I think so. It wasn't simply "rabid RR", though I'm sure that Dems would like to think so.
