Victor Tanaka, Director of Major General is pleased to announce the appointment of Glenn Shevchenko as President and director of the Company. William Coulter, the retiring President, will continue as a director. Mr. Shevchenko, who joined Major General as Exploration Manager in 1996, has 15 years of extensive exploration experience in both the Cordilleran and Shield Terrains. He has worked for several major mining companies, including Placer Dome and Noranda, where he was responsible for generating and executing base and precious metal
exploration programs that varied from grassroots to the advanced stage. Combining his organizational skills and technical expertise, Mr. Shevchenko brings to Major General an objective driven exploration approach which will prioritize the Company's exploration interests and focus on the primary goals. Bernard Kahlert, the Company's Vice President, Exploration, will assume the position of Senior Technical Advisor and will join the Board of Directors. In the short term, he will continue to supervise the advancement of the Green Bay, Newfoundland gold and base metal projects and the Company's five diamond projects. Over the long term Mr. Kahlert will focus his
expertise on the generation of new domestic and international opportunities for Major General. Mr. Kahlert has 30 years of global exploration experience and has first hand expertise with most types of economic mineral deposits. Major General Resources Ltd is an exploration company, active in the search for precious and base metals and diamonds in Canada and Greenland. During 1996 over $3,600,000 was spent on projects in which it has an interest.
