Not quite, Frank. The D in WDM simply means that in the 1550 nm
passband, many wavelengths can be used. Then there are other passbands, and they too can be dense. Simple WDM used to refer to
the simple use of one wavelength at 1330 nm, another one at 1550, and maybe one more at 1400nm or so. The D does mean something.
