Beebs, LT made a couple of great calls and about 50 bad ones. He gets it wrong when he declares precisely when the market will drop, but pay more attention to what he does with his money. Rather than precisely timing the market, he invests over the long-term, basing his decisions on major shifts in the underlying fundamentals. In the long term, fundamentals always win out and I'm sure he will do very well in the only time frame that matters - the long term. LT's view of the big picture is his great contribution to this thread. Ignore it at your own peril.

A skilled nimble trader like Thean who minimizes losses while consistently grabbing incremental profits will also do well in the long term. The fundamental tidal shifts don't matter much if you are consistently able to ride today's wave and quickly bail out before it breaks.

Two very different styles and they are both right.

Instead of worrying about LT, I think you should be concerned with those multitudes of investors who follow the dogma of long-term equity holding. If these investors haven't taken profits yet, when will they? Unfortunately for many of them, probably not until they can't stand the losses.
