But.. But I thought Chambers said that they were taking market share away from competitors. How can this be ? Are most of their sales to Service Providers and Telecom Carriers mainly routers and not ATM or FR switches ? He also said that the revenue opportunity at the edge was 15 times that of the core (ahhh, sour grapes). When 3Com gave that rationale to explain why they were avoiding the core and focusing on the edge people snubbed them. Now you have darling Cisco saying and everyone applauds. Last I knew the router was at the core and in terms of their new edge switch the 8800 that aint shipping till mid 99. In the meantime Ascends tramples them and people like James Cramer can sing praises of Cisco and deride ASND for financing CLECs. Wake and smell the coffee and read the writing on the wall. Since the last few weeks with all the contracts LU is winning building networks internatioanally a LU/ASND combo just feels like major force. -hitesh
