If however, based on your observations, that stock has no history of participation in the index movement, the index should probably have not been selected as a short term related to begin with.

While at times I do wonder about my intelligence, I'm not quite that stupid, although I do know some people that would disagree. :-)

I didn't play around with the influence settings, I just deleted the input. I always use a 4 week look back for short term. The indices were industry. I never use general market indices for short term. The nets that I am referring to were small cap stocks. Some of these industry indices have bigger cap stocks included their average. If the big caps move, the index average will change, even if the smaller caps did not participate. I was just relating an observation to alert everyone to this possibility. The new nets that I made changed the overall picture very little, but did correct some problems that existed in the verify period.

Did you look at SYNT? And do you think that a net trained on only one year of data can be trusted?
