BT, Yup. You got paid extra if you were willing to cut your face with a razor blade while pretending the blood came from an opponent's move. It was called "juicing." As a part time and temporary employee, I never juiced. Now, it is frowned upon on tv and wrestlers have even been fired for juicing without permission. Look at the foreheads of some of the old time wrestlers and you can see all the razor tracks and scar tissue. That wasn't for me. I may not be Brad Pitt, but I have no desire to be Boris Karloff, either. The expose was a bit out of date. Some fringe organizations, like Extreme, still juice, but they are totally local.
BTW, I also never went for the fire thrown in my face and though I did take a chair or two in my day, that wasn't my favorite thing to do. Yes, it is "fake," but it still hurts like heck. And I also hated it when 300 pound men jumped off the top rope on to my body. Most of these guys are superb athletes, but they still make mistakes. And some are klutzes.
