Well, Rocky, if you're going to sample audio, you need to sample at at least twice the audio frequency (but I know that you know this, I'm not questioning your audio expertise), and 10X is pretty good, yes? So 300 Hz sample rate would be good enough for a 30Hz contrabass note. So maybe direct-to-CD at 2X CD rate could be done at 300 Hz, you sure couldn't burn a CD with a 41K sampling frequency, like you could a HD (or Jaz, or used-to-could a Sparq) with their much higher data transfer rates.

The comment was just made to point out that some type of intermediate storage is needed before you go to CD in this case, so CD-R alone isn't appropriate for the application.
