Does anyone know anything about Robert Crandall? Sounds like he must know something about data processing if he was involved with Sabre. Dan
EDS asks Crandall to be chief By Bloomberg News Special to CNET News.com November 6, 1998, 5:45 a.m. PT Electronic Data Systems has approached retired AMR chairman Robert Crandall about becoming its new chief executive, according to reports.
It's not known whether EDS will make a formal offer to Crandall, who retired AMR, the parent of American Airlines, in May and who previously indicated to EDS he couldn't take the job because of a potential conflict with AMR's Sabre Group, the Dallas Morning News reported quoted anonymous sources close to Crandall as saying.
A Merrill Lynch analyst also published a research report yesterday speculating that Crandall, who is on a sailing vacation, would become EDS chairman by year's end.
Plano, Texas-based EDS, the No. 2 U.S. computer services company, has been searching for a new chief executive since August, when Les Alberthal said he would step down as soon as a replacement was found.
