Bob,

What is the difference between the innocent, funloving trick-or-treaters in Barbi and Ninja Turtle costumes and the boy who slaughtered his girlfriend? The only difference between the two is that the boy 'believed in the Devil', and in that way he WAS real to him. Was the 'devil' happy because the children did not believe in him, or because the boy did? Assume for a moment that there is no devil. If people believed in him, the results would be exactly the same. That being the case, then maybe indeed all is light, and the devil is only a mistaken belief. The only one who can foresake God within us is us, and it is a choice ruled by belief, for which only we are responsible. The 'devil made me do it' is one of the most dangerous phrases of all. It is the ultimate shirking of personal responsibilty, in which all evil is possible, and it is only a belief.

Peace,
Darrin

"It amazes me when people say the devil doesn't exist. How happy the devil is when you say that because he does not want you to know what he is up to."
