Chips & Technologies Inc , the
world's number one supplier of video graphics controllers and accelerators for flat panel displays,
today announced that Toshiba America Information Systems Inc., Computer Systems Division
has selected the HiQVideo(TM) graphics accelerator for the first notebook computers to support
Intel's new MMX(TM) multimedia-chip technology.
"The new Toshiba Tecra models represent the first wave of what will soon become a tsunami of
MMX-enabled desktop and notebook PCs," said Tim Erjavec, director of marketing at Chips
and Technologies. "Our strategy is to work in conjunction with the capabilities provided by the
MMX-enabled host processor. Our next-generation products are specifically designed to share
the multimedia workload with the native CPU to ensure a well-balanced system that uses all of
the inherent system resources to the fullest extent possible. Overall, we view the MMX
developments as extremely positive for the entire PC industry."

The last few months there was a rather ugly rumor circulating that chps would lose the Toshiba account.
This ought to put an end to that rumor.

I find this particularly bullish given its timing. If there was bad earnings news, I believe
the company would have withheld this information until the earnings were release in order to
soften the blow. Just my opinion. Still long.
