Josef,
Christopher Byron didn't do his homework.
In an article carried by TheStreet.com today, Christopher Byron states that Go2Net has 23 employees. Not true. An excerpt from Go2Net's September 18, 1998 S-3 filing states that Go2Net has "53 full-time employees and seven independent contractors." We now have more than 70 employees. Christopher Byron could have easily called Go2Net to verify the number of employees before making up a number that suits his negative bias.
As a former writer for Go2Net, Christopher knew -- or should have made an effort to find out -- the truth. He deliberately chose to ignore the facts. I would like to see him show a little more maturity and journalistic integrity.
The fact that he doesn't bother to do basic research calls into question the whole thesis of his article. I believe there are many SI members who are much more qualified than Christopher Byron to be reporting the news.

"The Internet Sucker's Index, on the other hand, includes the likes of Go2Net (GNET:Nasdaq) (23 employees) and numerous other equally forgettable operations, giving jobs to a mere 25,000 people, and producing, with the exception of America Online and eBay (EBAY:Nasdaq), no profits at all."
