MILPITAS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 8, 1997--Maxtor Corp. today announced the appointment of William Roach to the position of senior vice president, sales and marketing, and John Stahl as vice president, Quality. "One of our top priorities at Maxtor is to bring world-class employees to our company," said Maxtor President and Chief Executive Officer Michael R. Cannon. "I'm very pleased to round out our senior management team with two successful and well-respected industry professionals." Newly appointed Sales and Marketing Vice President William Roach, 52, comes to Maxtor from Quantum Corp., where he most recently held the position of executive vice president, Worldwide Sales. During his tenure, Quantum's sales increased dramatically in all sales channels and grew to become the second-largest hard disk drive manufacturer in the world. Prior to Quantum, Roach held a number of positions with Intel Corp., including director of Worldwide Distribution Sales. He also has experience with Digital Equipment Corp. and Texas Instruments. Roach holds a B.S. in Industrial Economics from Purdue University. John Stahl, 52, vice president of Quality, joins Maxtor from Seagate Technology, where he held the position of vice president, Recording Head Quality. Prior to Seagate, he held various executive positions with Storage Technology Corp., Iomega Corp. and IBM. Stahl holds an M.S. in Applied Mechanics from the University of California at Berkeley and a Ph.D. in Applied Mechanics from the California Institute of Technology. Maxtor Corp., headquartered in Milpitas, Calif., develops, manufactures and markets information storage products for desktop and mobile computer systems. A wholly owned independently operated subsidiary of Hyundai Electronics America, Maxtor had sales of $1.2 billion in the calendar year 1995.
