I posted a message to a friend privately, and realized that it may be worthwhile to post it here. Only you will know.
A key that was offered me that has been particularly helpful, is not to focus too hard on the words of scripture, but to look instead at the pictures they would paint in my mind. And to paint those pictures from a perspective of the here and now.
An example would be the woman at the well. How did Jesus know she had exactly five husbands, and that was why she would not drink the waters of life everlasting?
If I put myself in this picture, I see that I have five senses. Jesus indicates I need one more. Perhaps that sixth sense is what is superstitously known as the third eye, or spiritual sight. Looking at the scriptures from the viewpoint of Jesus WITHIN me as the speaker, and I the characters, is the most profound tool I have yet found to opening this eye, and regaining my spiritual sight.
If we have received Jesus, or God is within us, perhaps by learning to ask of him within us in the way that he suggested, we will see all that he told us, and more. "Greater things than this shall ye do". Jesus was not trying to tell us what to do, but how to see.
The trinity and rebirth may be likened to the rejoining of the body, mind, and spirit. If one perceives the spirit to be external, and a gift that may be taken away, then he remains broken, and in eternal fear of what he is not, and what may be taken away. In this way, he may choose to steal the Crown from himself.
