Judy -
I think the thin server frenzy may hurt SUNW a little, since many will be based on Linux and could compete on the low end, but SUNW does not have much low end revenue anyway so little risk. ORCL has driven Linux support, and for Linux-based small appliance servers I would expect them to have a nice small business play. Intel has been involved both openly and behind the scenes, and many suspect DELL is their favorite mainstream OEM. CPQ has lead with its own designs which are different than Intel's. I would expect IBM and HPW to follow with an Intel-based design but they don't have the right distribution to play well in small business, which will be the early market.

The big losers will be white box makers in the small business segment. Corporate thin servers are a more complex issue, but also farther away in time - maybe mid to late 99.
