Thanks Gregg for the analysis. While the Japanese system might have had a couple of problems getting going, the handsets look amazing. You can click through into the cdmaOne handsets with photos and Japanese description.
Handsets are here: ddi.co.jp
Most of you won't be able to read the Japanese, but here's a translation. "They are amazing phones!"
Typical specs:
Kyocera 95g or 120g 65hr standby on 95 g Dimensions 40mm x 135 mm x 21mm or 40 x 135 x 26
There are; Denso, Kyocera, Fujitsu, Toshiba, Panasonic Surprisingly, Sony isn't mentioned.
They don't look as though the plastic will crack. Tero better think again about the terrible form factors for cdmaOne. These are amazing little handsets, with 4.5 hours talk time and heading for a week standby.
Despite what people think about Japanese, they don't like paying a fortune for telephone service. With cdmaOne, they can get some great phones and some cheap service.
Here is some English language: ddi.co.jp but this is just a description of the service, not the handsets. You need to click through it all to see all about it.
They are now selling these in Japan, so they obviously plan to get their home market sailing, then you can expect to see them flooding the world. Along with Korean. This will be a tsunami. Look out Tero!
