Here is what i found out so far.

The property that EGVRD is trying to acquire was formerly owned by Malone Services. The site is a injected well system for disposal of hazardous waste and has CURRENT PERMITS from the state of Texas for continued operations. However, a few years ago, the state of Texas shut down Malone SVCS for site violations...subsequent fines, litigation etc..ensued and the State of Texas forced Malone SVCS into bankruptcy court and took the property away. (This is all per the Texas State Attorney General's (AG) Office)

The property is located in Texas City, Texas...south of Houston in the heart of the petro-chemical industry...Hence, there should be many users of the site if it becomes operational.

The EPA doesn't know anything because the permits come from the Texas Natural Resources and Conservation Commission (TNRCC) and the Attorney General. The EPA gets involved afterward...but I have someone there doing some checking for me.

According to AG...the site would require approximately 9 Million to get "cleaned up" and then be considered "safe" for operation, and no additional permits are needed since the old ones for Malone SVCS are still valid.

The site sounds very lucrative from the "if it ever gets operational standpoint".

SOOOOOOOO, if EGVRD did secure the $10M in funding they will meet the $9M requirement and have $1M left over for their own use. I asked about the supposed meeting on Nov 2...and was told that the AG building is only six stories and has plenty of meeting rooms to go around. I was given another name to contact. I'm getting closer to those that are in the know...jut haven't got in touch with them yet.

I'm going to give a go at the TNRCC next week when I'm not stuck in my rut job.
