WARNING - TA STUFF
Thanks for your suggestion Jim, I like it a lot.
I need to clarify something. I made a comment about "cheap shots from left-field" that I hope no one here incorrectly assumed was directed towards them. I was referring to something that gets me emotionally charged up, namely manipulation of stocks by institutions or others who use their size or advanced information to their advantage.
I liken it to a school yard bully who beats you up and takes your lunch money, simply because he is bigger than you. Or, you are in a classroom taking a test that will be graded on a curve, and some poindexter has a cheat sheet containing all the information he needs to smoke the test.
That really is about how it is in the stock market, where the individual investor is it a definite disadvantage. It goes further, when on several occasions an analyst downgrades a stock, only to find out that they are accumulating the stock at the very same time. What is that, where I come from we call it lying?
Or another classic scenario is manipulation in the price, especially at the open, or when the gap between the bid and ask is widened, all to create a general impression, or to unfairly use their position to their advantage. Looking for honesty in the stock market is like looking for a piece of hay in the middle of a needle stack, you're gonna get stuck a lot.
So ... "cheap shot from left-field" goes out to all you manipulators. It doesn't matter whether or not you get caught, what really matters is that you are scummy enough to try it in the first place. It happens on the way up too, I know that, and it is just as bad as when it happens on the way down.
I consider SI one of the best resources an individual investor has, since it provides the collective thoughts of many to be gathered and used to the benefit of all. This is where I have learned a lot of the skills I rely on to make intelligent investment decisions.
It is in my nature to get emotional, so if on occasion it comes out, just slap me to the back of the head, that normally fixes it :o)
Everyone have a great weekend, if you see someone cursing at a stock chart, chances are good it could be me. If you ask me, the fact that the price of THQI has gone through so many intense fluctuations, despite the fact the fundamentals have experienced no major change is pretty good justification for using technical analysis.
