Papaya King,
Nice to have a change of pace here. I see what you are talking about. I can tell you one thing from experience, these guys are all pretty much the same. It is the chemistry of the coach towards the team and the way he molds the interaction of the players that makes the difference.
I interviewed Pete Rose once, the should be Hall of Fame baseball player for a project I was doing. He said Bill, it is simple, all I have to do is hit a baseball 3 out of 10 times. If I was an engineer an built bridges and was successful 3 out of 10 times, you would say I was a horseshit engineer.
Nobody was more consistent that Pete Rose. But here is the key to the deal. He then told me: Good habits- good results ( nobody was better that Pete at hitting a baseball in the history of the sport ) bad habits: bad results, " if you do not brush your teeth, you get bad breath". Nobody knows the lesson of his own wisdom now than Pete, after he got banned from baseball for his bad gambling habits.
The point of all this is very simple. The athletes at the pro level are pretty much the same from a team standpoint. There are the great ones ( Doug Flutie among them ) that just rise above, but they are rare. It is the coach that can make the chemistry happen that is the difference. That is why certain teams win, year in and year out. These coaches cultivate good habits.
For what it is worth in football season,
Bill
