All the newbies make for a double-edged sword.

From a seller's perspective, the newbies are the ones most likely to not honor their high bids. (For me, about 25 percent of newbies fail to pay.) On the other hand, they also tend to bid higher.

Of course, eBay collects the fee either way. And eBay makes it a real pain to get a credit for an unpaid auction. (I have probably foregone $50 in credits because of this.)
