To James and others of EPEA, The following is not trying to do a bashing of EPEA, but only put the true facts on the table. To start with, the methods used for the press release were far from professional, as example it looks like faxes to individuals came before a public release, for which I, as well as I feel most others read the press release from another party other than direct from EPEA. Except for their web site, I still fail to find it out there through any of the normal "Press Release" sources. The matter of the press release's should just be I feel a learning experience , for the content was really nothing new. As on Yahoo reply 302, the wording that was mentioned as changed of about "the government approved the Peacekeeper technology to use by EPEA, it in fact is over 11 years old news, for the using of Peacekeeper Technology is at the heart of what EPEA is all about. On Yahoo as I remember the statement has changed, and could be for the fact that people may be getting the idea that it is like a approval, for which it is far from it. Now comes the main part in this whole release that really matters and controls what EPEA can do in launching. In the press release it mentions the "GOAL" of EPEA is to get a Jan.-1999 licensing to launch. Notice the word used is "GOAL", which is the same as hoping to get licensing, but this is not a sure date. Those of us that have been following EPEA, had hopes that in Aug. or Sept. of this year that the "START" part would be put behind us, but it still looms over EPEA, and moving of a later and later date is very disappointing, but there has been some positive steps that have taken place. Over the last few months we have EPEA for what is known, has been given the go ahead to go for contracts, and they are moving forward with the building and refitting of the former U.S.Air Force Peacekeepers. I feel these steps have come about because a major "Think Tank" [of legal experts] in Washington that deals in legal treaties and the likes that are made between countries, back in around August of this year, "all" came to the same answer, that the "Start" treaty is "Dead". The reason I feel things have dragged and EPEA has not got a license yet, is that now the Pentagon and goverment have to figure out still how to handle this in a correct manner. Spring of 2000 for first launch, yes that is a realistic date, for after licensing by EPEA,Lockheed, or Boeing it takes as a normal after licensing to launch about 18 months. EPEA Believer*Richard |
