I just transferred my shares into my kids Education Savings Plan at .005/share as that was the last trade. This allows me to take advantage of the capital loss as it would be deemed a sale to them.. It will be considered as a contribution to my children's RESP to the tune of $100 and qualify for the 20% grant ($20) to their plan by the Feds. They have an entire graveyard of past duds in their portfolio such as Bre-X, Bresea, and Bro-X. If their is such a thing as an afterlife maybe my kids will make it to University (LOL) ! This is just a suggestion of what to do with your losers. Apparetly Revenue Canada will not allow you to claim the lose if you do the same thing to an RRSP.
