Wow. The Airtouch press release seems strange, but then in this brave new world of competitive alliances companies have to accommodate the needs of their alliance partners to maintain the relationship when they in turn need them. In that context, the press release makes sense in clarifying it was a pricing and not quality issue. If Airtouch hadn't bent over backwards, there would have been a lot of speculation that quality was an issue (in view of the situation with another carrier) and Airtouch would have been put in the position of having to respond, so why not address the issue immediately?
