"One thing I learned in the oil service sector, obvious fundamentals don't mean a damn thing."

<H>

I collegially disagree with you here. In retrospect, environmental fundamentals began to significantly deteriorate in the Fall of 1997 (OPEC quota increases & global economic slowing = decaying price of oil), but the tendency of the many on the SD thread was to focus on company-specific fundamentals (past performance). At least I did. Had I been more sophisticated and aware, I might have been able to make this connection. The price of oil is the key fundamental to the OS sector and that did change.
