The cost of switching from CVD to Super Video CD has been kept to a minimum for system OEMs and CVD title developers, a C-Cube spokesman said. C-Cube's chip set already has built-in support for both 1/2-D1 and 2/3-D1 picture resolutions-the key technical difference between the two incompatible formats. The Super Video CD standard specifies 2/3-D1 resolution; the CVD standard gives authoring companies the option of picking either one.
