Re: "Really. The K7 design was just made public a couple of weeks ago. Maybe YOU should do YOUR homework. I assume that if you've been flipping foil instead of flipping burgers, as you say, that you may have a useful thing or two to say on the design."

Yes they did do a presentation on the architecture but still much is unknown. A group of graduate students can design an architecture. They can present foils at a national convention just like AMD did. However you can't sell your customers foil presentations. Others here will be happy to discuss the architecture with you. I prefer to compare products. The K7 will not be a threat until AMD shows they can produce them and that the product actually lives up to the hype. So far the K7 hasn't been seen. There are no benchmarks, no demonstrations and no design wins. Where are the facts? That's what I mean when I say very little is known. An architecture is not a design and a design is not a product. The only thing you can sell your customers is a product. There are serious questions about glaring compromises AMD made in their design as well as the overall manufacturability. When AMD appears to have a product then it's time to start comparing it to Intel's product line.

Re: "P.S. Forgive me if some of my remarks are rather snide. Condescension always seems to get my panties in a bunch."

I'm glad someone else had the patience.
