Paradyne's MVL does not use a hub. It is a Proprietary High level protocol that allows an almost instantaneous line turnaraound. I have observed its performance at the residential and SOHO applications. Right now it does two drops. It will do 4 by Jan. It will have a density of 12 ports per DSLAM card by 1st Q. Simultaneous POTS, no splitter , and 768kb. It's best features for service providers are reach and being releatively impervious to bridged taps. 250 MW power, and a USB version on the way powered by the interface itself, so no power brick. It's here today and being installed big time. There will be BIG deployment issues with G.Lite. Reach, power, heat, will still be issues for GLite. Splitters may still be required. GLite in my view is a watered down transmission technology being offered as a "standard" The end user wants high speed service. Does the user in Buffalo really care if his local loop modem is compatible with a local loop modem in Spokane, as long as he is getting cheap reliable high speed service. Now, when will Paradyne go public.....? Regards Mike
