As a counter-argument, there seems to be a certain admiration for people who are
comfortable on the internet by those who are new to computers and the web. Because of
this, I think new users naturally try to emulate those who already use the services
day-to-day. Given Amazon has a large number of customers in place, this 'following
effect' is by itself likely stronger than any multimillion dollar advertising campaign
Amazon's competitors may pursue.

Randy,

I would debate this but cannot state I feel I know. Your concept is compelling and my intuition say no. The problem is I have to facts to back it up. Let's leave that as being possible for now and see how it plays out. I do suspect the new people may defect from AMZN easily. I am not stating. I am stating they will but it is easy to change on the net. That really has no bearing here so take it with a mountain of salt:-)
