MMX Pentium 166 MHz costs $407. When the non MMX Pentium 166 was introduced a year ago it cost $749.
I have checked the somewhat dubious source of ads in a couple of PC type magazines. and it appears that Intel is charging little if any extra for the MMX chip. If so, that means the supply line is full, and they expect the older chip to go away soon. I hope somebody can provide more precise data because the pricing gives a good clue to Intel's future strategy.
