bateman doesn't know much about the Roman Gov. Pontius Pilate, else he wouldn't be saying that Hyde is trying to be Pilate. Pilate and his deputies interrogated Christ, and concluded that "we find no wrong to be committed by this man". Pilate wanted to let Christ go free, but the rabble demanded he be crucified. As the mob cried "crucify him", Pilate in front of the people symbolically washed his hands, signifying that he wanted no part of what the people demanded. It was the custom to release one prisoner a year, and Pilate suggested that Christ be the one to be released. But the rabble demanded a murderer, "Barabas". "Give us Barabas". So, nothing in that Biblical account is comparable to Clinton's perjury woes.
